On June 24, the 4th China International Non-road Mobile Machinery Summit was held in Shanghai, attended by industry experts and representatives from the government, industry associations and construction machinery enterprises, who discussed hot topics including “the upcoming NRMM (China IV) Standard to be effective next year, the blueprint for engineering machinery and agricultural machinery industries under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the policies on subsidies to agricultural machinery, the development strategy for non-road mobile machinery in the post-COVID-19 era, and the latest application of new energy, intelligence and lightweight design in the non-road mobile machinery industry”. Sun Bei, Executive Director of Application Engineering Department of REFIRE, was invited to the summit and delivered a keynote speech on “the Application and Exploration of Fuel Cell Technology in Multiple Fields”.
In his speech, Sun Bei shared with the attendees the commercial applications and exploration of REFIRE’s fuel cell technology in multiple fields, the company’s product mix and the sustainability of fuel cell technology.

Sun Bei said that the goal of “Peak Carbon Dioxide Emission and Carbon Neutrality” will accelerate the transition of existing energy systems to green and low-carbon application. As a clean, efficient, safe and sustainable energy source, hydrogen is an important opportunity to achieve carbon neutrality. Under the outlines for the 14th Five-Year Plan, hydrogen and energy storage have been listed as one of China’s six strategic emerging industries of the future. Hydrogen has shown broad prospects in sectors such as energy, transportation, industry and construction, and the commercialized application and exploration of fuel cell technology in multiple fields offer a breakthrough and a main market for the early application of hydrogen energy.
As a fuel cell system enterprise, REFIRE focuses on the R&D of fuel cell technology, as well as the R&D, production, sales of fuel cell system related products and the services for of fuel cell engineering application development. The 63kW-110kW PRISMA series fuel cell system launched in 2020 by REFIRE has been applied to a variety of heavy trucks ranging from 18t to 49t, and REFIRE has played roles in multiple service scenarios such as urban construction, cleaning and transportation. REFIRE is also vigorously exploring the commercial application in the fields of marine and construction machinery in addition to the automotive sector. The world’s first fuel cell mixer truck and the first fuel cell dump truck launched by Sany Heavy Industry in 2020 are equipped with the PRISMA series fuel cell system of REFIRE, guaranteeing all-weather high-intensity operations while being environmentally-friendly.
Sun Bei mentioned that, as the application scenarios of fuel cell continue to increase, fuel cell systems are faced with greater challenges in durability, reliability, and safety of the fuel cell systems under different working conditions. Thanks to core technology research and ongoing endeavor to accelerate products iteration, REFIRE launched the 130kW high-power PRISMA XII+ fuel cell system in June 2021. This upgraded system provides improved technical features, including mass power density of 702W/kg, an increase of 30%; a reduction of BOP power consumption at rated power of the system by nearly 10kW, an increase of the system efficiency by about 10%; and the volume power density of the electric pile of 4.4kW/L, an increase of 25% over the previous generation. Furthermore, the PRISMA XII+ fuel cell system has also achieved significant reduction in system cost by localization and technological advancement.
