Build ecosystem, Expand Application Scenarios | REFIRE Group Made Its Appearance At Hannover Messe 2023 With Upgraded Products and Strategic Cooperative Outcomes

2023-04-18

“Focusing on climate-friendly production transition, promoting industrial decarbonization, and moving towards sustainable development” as well as hydrogen has become the hot topic of the Hannover Messe 2023. REFIRE Group made its first appearance at the Hannover Messe with upgraded fuel cell system line-up and hydrogen technology solutions, and announced important strategic cooperation achievements. Its appearance attracted visits from members of the German Federal Senate, representatives of many foreign embassies in Germany, and interviews and reports from authoritative mainstream media such as the public account of the Chinese Embassy in Germany, Xinhua News Agency’s German branch, China Central Television, China International Television, and China International Broadcasting Radio, etc., developing a good brand image and demonstration role for Chinese hydrogen enterprises to explore international markets.

High-power Fuel Cell System Facilitates Decarbonized Transition of Heavy-duty Transportation

REFIRE Group presented the PRISMA series high-power fuel cell system line-up at the expo, including the PRISMA 12+ with a rated power of 130 kW, the PRISMA 22 with a rated power of 220 kW, and the ELECTRA fuel cell stack certified by Germany’s TÜV Rheinland.

Among them, the PRISMA 12+ fuel cell system, with outstanding performance in multiple technical indicators, has garnered recognition since its release and has become one of REFIRE Group’s flagship products. So far, it has been presented at well-known domestic and international exhibitions such as the 4th and 5th China International Import Expo, the IAA Mobility 2021, and the IAA Transportation 2022. In June 2021, the PRISMA 22+ and its supporting ELECTRA stack, backed by excellent comprehensive performance, received the world’s first fuel cell system performance and stack indicator evaluation certificate from TÜV Rheinland.

The PRISMA 22 fuel cell system made its European debut at the Hannover Messe 2023. This high-power product, released in December 2022, adopts a commercial vehicle automotive grade development and verification system, and has completed 66 tests and verifications under various operating conditions such as high/low temperature, high humidity, vibration, long-term operation, long idle speed, and variable load. It achieves the best performance in low heat dissipation, high power, low cost, low hydrogen consumption, high reliability, and long lifespan. This fuel cell heavy truck will truly meet the practical needs of heavy-load, long-range, high-speed, and overall life-cycle economic benefits under various operating conditions.

Audrey Ma, Vice President of REFIRE Group, stated that the new fuel cell system product has achieved cost optimization in the total cost of ownership (TCO), playing a critical role in the decarbonization transition of such heavy-duty trucks scenarios as long-distance heavy-duty transportation.

Hydrogen Off-grid Charging Project Boosts Sustainable Energy Transition In Hong Kong

On the afternoon of April 20th, REFIRE Group and Hong Kong green mobility R&D think tank, APAS (Automotive Platforms and Application Systems) unveiled Hong Kong’s first fuel cell-electric vehicle charging prototype and off-grid power unit. The project deploys a 30 kW off-grid hydrogen charging equipment powered by a REFIRE fuel cell system, which features high integration, occupies only 2.5 square meters, and can meet the charging needs of private cars, taxis, trucks, and mini-buses.

Lai Jingwen, General Manager of APAS, said that it is crucial to apply innovative energy technology solutions to achieve the green energy transition of urban transportation in Hong Kong, one of the world’s densest cities. The hydrogen off-grid charging project has a demonstration effect, which will support the Hong Kong SAR government’s carbon neutrality plan. Looking forward, APAS will continue to facilitate the widespread application of hydrogen-electric power.

Founded in 2006, APAS focuses on green transportation, intelligent mobility, and intelligent systems. Over the years, APAS has been collaborating with industries, universities and technical institutions on technological researches and the commercialization of R&D results, thereby promoting the development of automotive technology. The hydrogen off-grid charging project is an important milestone achieved in the two-year cooperation between REFIRE Group and APAS.

Audrey Ma noted that REFIRE Group is continuously expanding the commercial application of hydrogen technology in various fields. This project in cooperation with APAS underlines the feasibility of safely deploying hydrogen-electric power in one of the world’s densest cities. Looking ahead, REFIRE Group expects to contribute more sustainable energy solutions to Hong Kong.

It can be observed from Hannover Messe 2023 that reducing carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality in production have become increasingly important for enterprises to address the global challenge of climate change. Promoting the application of hydrogen technology has become an important solution. According to date from Xinhua News Agency, more than 500 hydrogen-related companies have participated in the Hannover Messe 2023, twice that of last year, indicating an increasingly urgent demand and trend for the hydrogen economy to shift from a niche market to large-scale development.

At the panel discussion organized by Hannover Messe officials, Audrey Ma stated that the current number of fuel cell vehicles in China amounts to nearly 13,000, which provides a solid foundation for promoting the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles and achieving cost parity with diesel vehicles. With the implementation of policies for decarbonizing heavy-duty vehicles throughout the European Union, hydrogen fuel cells are a viable direction for alternative power. Currently, REFIRE Group has joined hands with domestic and foreign vehicle manufacturers and partners in developing nearly 140 fuel cell vehicle models. Besides, the company looks forward to further cooperation with vehicle manufacturers and retrofitting factories worldwide on building localized teams and producing products that meet diversified market demands.
