To further accelerate the application and popularization of fuel cell vehicles in China, and promote the realization of decarbonation goal, on November 3, 2021, the eve of opening ceremony of the 4th CIIE, REFIRE Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Toyota Motor, to jointly develop fuel cell system, and reached consensus on developing a new generation of fuel cell system products suitable for commercial vehicle market.

At the event, Hu Zhe, executive vice president of REFIRE Group and general manager of REFIRE Technology, signed a MOU with Toyota R&D president Kiyya Seiya. Against the background of decarbonation goal, accelerating the transformation of energy structure towards a low-carbon and green way has become a global consensus. As the world’s largest market of commercial vehicle, China has constantly promoted the transformation of commercial vehicles towards a clean direction in recent years, for example, actively guides and encourages innovation breakthroughs and large-scale applications of fuel cell technology. In this case, REFIRE Technology shares an open attitude and vision with Toyota R&D, and makes cooperation through giving play to respective expertise and advantages. Those measures will not only be conducive to further speeding up wide application of fuel cell vehicles in China, but also boosting more industrial cooperation in the hydrogen energy industry worldwide, and jointly making positive contributions to improving China’s ecological environment. At the signing ceremony, leaders from both sides raised great expectation for cooperation.

Liu Ping raised his expectation that REFIRE Technology and Toyota Motor can make more extensive, in-depth and fruitful cooperation by fully utilizing the signing of MOU, growing a backbone of fuel cell vehicle industry chain and bolstering up the innovation highland of fuel cell vehicle industry in Shanghai. He expressed that Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission, together with other related Municipal Departments, will seize the opportunity of fuel cell vehicle demonstration, coordinate and carry out demonstration in an orderly manner, and make every effort to promote high-quality development of fuel cell vehicle industry.

Li Feng stated his hope that the cooperation between REFIRE Technology and Toyota Motor will bring new vitality to Jiading’s pillar industries, and that Jiading will continue to closely meet enterprises demand, help enterprises resolve problems, and promote enterprise revenue and local economy to strive for win-win outcomes to the largest extent.
As members actively fulfill the philosophy of green and sustainable development in global hydrogen energy industry, REFIRE Technology has boasted a time-honored cooperation with Toyota Motor. As early as 2019, the two sides began exploring fuel cell technology for vehicles. The first batch of 20 fuel cell buses jointly developed were officially put into operation in the High-tech Industry Development Zone, Changshu, Jiangsu Province in January 2020, providing green public transport service for the locals.
