2023-03-17

Recently, REFIRE Group made its appearance at FC EXPO 2023 with new high-power fuel cell systems and fuel cell stacks certified by Germany’s TÜV Rheinland, presenting its technological innovation and application experience in fuel cell fields.

PRISMA 22 Fuel Cell System Made Its Overseas Debut

On December 13th, 2022, REFIRE Group officially unveiled the high-power fuel cell system PRISMA XXII. This system adopts the commercial vehicle automotive grade development and verification system, and has completed 66 tests and verifications under various operating conditions such as high/low temperature, high humidity, vibration, long-term operation, long idle speed, and variable load. It has delivered outstanding performance in terms of low heat dissipation, high power, low cost, low hydrogen consumption, high reliability, and long lifespan.

During an interview at the FC EXPO 2023, Audrey Ma, Vice President of REFIRE Group, stated that this expo has witnessed the debut of PRISMA XXII in the overseas market. PRISMA XXII is expected to meet fuel cell heavy-duty trucks’ practical needs under operating situations of heavy load, long durability, high speed and achieve good economic benefits across life cycle. Besides, the product features great adaptability in all-weather and high-altitude scenarios. These advantages have greatly shifted fuel cell vehicles towards cost parity with diesel vehicles, providing greater economic value and driving experience for clients around the world, facilitating green energy transition of heavy-duty trucks and promoting decarbonization in transportation.

Jointly Launched Race Car Hydrogen Fuel Cell System With Green GT

On the afternoon of March 15th, Swiss clean power supplier GreenGT and REFIRE Group jointly released the NGT 75 series fuel cell system, which adopts the ELECTRA stack independently developed by UNILIA, Stack BU of REFIRE Group, and will be deployed in fuel cell race cars to provide strong power.

It is introduced that NGT 75 series fuel cell system features high-integration design and can offer the power range of 65kW to 75kW. The system is compact in volume with weight of 140kg and can provide highly customized power solutions for vehicles and ships. The ELECTRA stack adopted in the system features a rated power that can be extended up to 130kW, with a power density of 4.4kW/L. Shortly after its launch in 2021, ELECTRA became the recipient of world’s first stack product performance certificate from Germany’s TÜV Reinland.

Jean-François Weber, the Managing Director and R&D Head of GreenGT, stated at the press conference that since its creation in 2008, the company has been working to develop high specification, high performance, and customized hydrogen power systems. Hence the release of NGT 75 fuel cell system is a significant milestone. As a sunrise industry, the fuel cell system industry calls for collaborative partnership to provide high quality and customized products. As a leader in hydrogen technology and product, REFIRE Group has provided highly responsive and flexible technical services support for NGT 75 series products with its accumulative clean mileage of over 140 million kilometers.

Robert Artibise, R&D Vice President of UNILIA, noted that the ELECTRA Stack enjoys full independent intellectual property rights, and has achieved upgrades in such details as MEA performance, durability, water and thermal management, system interfaces compared with the last generation products. With that, the ELECTRA Stack is expected to better meet the customers’ demands for flexibility, expansibility and reducing TCO. Its excellent performance has been witnessed in the deployment of several hundred fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen equipment. The NGT 75 system jointly released by GreenGT and REFIRE Group is a highly customized product based on customer needs.

REFIRE Group and GreenGT has been in close cooperation for three years. The release of NGT 75 series fuel cell system is a huge milestone. In the future, the two parties will strengthen the cooperation on expanding fuel cell technology in vehicles, aerospace, ships and other transportation sectors.

Jointly Launched Hong Kong’s First Hydrogen Off-grid Charging Project

On the afternoon of April 16th, REFIRE Group and Hong Kong green mobility R&D think tank, APAS (Automotive Platforms and Application Systems) unveiled Hong Kong’s first fuel cell-electric vehicle charging prototype and off-grid power unit. The project deploys a 30 kW off-grid hydrogen charging equipment powered by a REFIRE fuel cell system, which features high integration, occupies only 2.5 square meters, and can meet the charging needs of private cars, taxis, trucks, and mini-buses.

Xu Weiyu, deputy head of APAS Green Transportation, stated at the press conference that it is crucial to apply innovative energy technology solutions to achieve the green energy transition of urban transportation in Hong Kong, one of the world’s densest cities. The hydrogen off-grid charging project has a demonstration effect, which will support the Hong Kong SAR government’s 2050 carbon neutrality plan. APAS expects to work with regulatory agencies and the industry to share the solution plan and facilitate the widespread application of hydrogen-electric energy.

This project is a milestone that REFIRE Group and APAS have achieved over the past two years. Audrey Ma noted that REFIRE Group has been expanding the commercialized application of hydrogen technology in many fields. Last year, REFIRE Group and CHINT Group jointly launched the megawatt-level hydrogen power generation system, the safety, reliability and intelligence of which have gained recognition in practical operation.

“Though this project in cooperation with APAS is in trial operation stage, it has demonstrated the feasibility of safely deploying hydrogen-electric equipment in one of the world’s densest cities. Besides, the hydrogen off-grid charging project will resolve land and infrastructure issues for vehicles, such as buses that require multiple runs daily, paving the way for a new approach”, stated Audrey Ma.

Founded in 2005, the FC Expo this year gathered leading technologies, materials, components and advanced equipment companies related to the hydrogen and fuel cells, included are REFIRE Group and other nine hydrogen enterprises from China. Looking forward, REFIRE Group will continue to improve its technological strength and service capabilities, contributing more to China’s endeavors to build global hydrogen industry chain and supply chain.
