Logistics Support for Shanghai: Fuel Cell Trucks in for Combating Pandemic

“Supplies have arrived!” A fuel cell logistics truck loaded with various daily necessities pulled off at a community in Pudong, Shanghai. Community workers and volunteers who had been waiting for long immediately started unloading the vehicle and disinfecting the goods. The nonstop transportation and distribution of supplies for over 10 hours a day has brought warmth and hope to thousands of families affected by the pandemic.

A supply vehicle arrived at the community

Since the outbreak in mid-March this year, the pandemic wrecked havoc on the society, leaving the task of ensuring goods supply more and more difficult. In particular, the microcirculation at “the last kilometer” and “the last 100 meters” of the distribution of supplies has been bogged down, causing difficulty for citizens to obtain daily supplies. As the government stepped up efforts to guarantee supply and distribution with the cooperation of e-commerce and logistics companies, urban logistics, which had been once gummed up, began to flow again in early April.

Recently, 30 fuel cell logistics trucks were assigned to “combat the pandemic” in charge of material transportation and distribution. Every morning, after completing hydrogenation and supplies loading, the vehicles drove out of the logistics terminal, and the hectic distribution work began immediately. According to statistics, the single-day mileage per vehicle of this batch has exceeded 300 kilometers, guaranteeing the supply of food, fruits and vegetables and other daily necessities in many communities, streets and towns, and forming a guarantee loop together with medical, security, community service staff and volunteers.

Fuel cell logistics trucks are ready to go

The fuel cell vehicles that participated in this operation were developed based on logistics scenarios, equipped with REFIRE fuel cell system, featuring fast hydrogenation, long duration, zero emission and other characteristics. Operated by BESTPATH (Shanghai) IoT Technology Co., Ltd., the vehicles are to ensure the delivery of supplies and e-commerce items, playing an important role in clearing obstructions and improving logistics efficiency.

In daily life, freight forwarders bring better consumption experience to millions of households; and in emergency moments, efficient distribution can be relied on to ensure supply and stabilize price. While the logistics drivers are operating their vehicles continuously for supplies distribution every day, the after-sale personnel from REFIRE also support the logistics “behind the scenes”. In this special and crucial period, though Shanghai regional technical support staff can’t meet the demand of on-site support for pandemic regulation, the team are always ready to provide support in various ways for the front line. On the basis of existing 24-7 service, they have enhanced the service personnel deployment, opening multiple emergency hotlines, actively providing support for customers. At the same time, the team keep a close eye on the real-time operating status of the vehicle power system, providing full support for operation, instant replies to questions and timely responses to problems.

Every bit of support is out of our dedication to the society. REFIRE Group has been sparing no effort to help the country battle the pandemic. In February this year, logistics vehicles equipped with the fuel cell system of REFIRE supported Changshu’s combat against the pandemic and participated in the transfer of nucleic acid test samples. Previously during Wuhan’s battle against the pandemic, fuel cell vehicles were used to transport medical workers to and from work.

In the face of the severe and complex pandemic situation, REFIRE Group perseveres and protects. Together with industry partners, we contribute to the fight against the pandemic, support logistics and production, and pay our sincere respect to workers and volunteers in the front line of the fight against the pandemic!
