REFIRE Signed a Three-party Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Sinopec Sales and FAW Jiefang

There is now a broad consensus that against the backdrop of “double carbon” policy, building a modern industrial chain of hydrogen energy application through more cooperation will help to promote the high-quality development of hydrogen industry.

The Meeting for Construction of Modern Industrial Chain for Hydrogen Applications & Forum on High Quality Development were held on July 14. In the meeting, REFIRE signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on hydrogen transportation with Sinopec Sales and FAW Jiefang, and the three parties will establish a strategic cooperation relationship for win-win results and sustainable development by leveraging their resources and advantages in hydrogen energy supply, infrastructure, vehicle development, application scenarios and fuel cell technology. Their aim is to develop a hydrogen industrial chain and lead the way in demonstration application of fuel cells.

Mr. Ma Yongsheng, Chairman of Sinopec, said that as a key state-owned energy enterprise, Sinopec has realized the importance of advancing the high-quality development of hydrogen industry by enhancing industry cultivation, innovation and leadership, and strategic cooperation. Recent years have witnessed Sinopec’s closer cooperation with Chinese energy firms in hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry under the principle of mutual benefits. To be specific, Sinopec strategically invested in leading enterprises of the industry chain such as Shanghai REFIRE and Glorious Sinoding Gas Equipment, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Air Liquide and established a joint venture company with Cummins, and achieved good cooperation results. In the next step, Sinopec will join hands with relevant authorities, institutions and enterprises with a more open attitude to build a platform for innovation and development of hydrogen industry, support the construction of a new industrial ecosystem with complete industrial chain, division of labor and common development, and contribute more to a modern industrial chain of hydrogen energy application in China.

Robin Lin, Chairman and CEO of REFIRE, attended the forum by giving a video speech on “Building Industrial Ecology and Promoting Hydrogen Applications”. He said that REFIRE has been pursuing longtermism, insisting on empowering products with technology and creating user value through products. Since its inception, REFIRE has grown for 7 years into an enterprise with an experienced global R&D team and competitive edges in product technology.

By optimizing products and rapid iteration, REFIRE has realized the independent control of key technologies and core components and lead the industry in product technical indexes. By connecting the product end, energy end and scene end, it has built hydrogen strategic cooperation ecosystems in various places and explored the development of the ecology of hydrogen energy industry in full cooperation with Sinopec. REFIRE also has an active part in building a global hydrogen cooperation network. In June this year, REFIRE, together with its European partner Clean Logistics, launched the world’s first fuel cell retrofit heavy-duty truck at Stade Airport in Lower Saxony, Germany.

The Meeting for Construction of Modern Industrial Chain for Hydrogen Applications & Forum on High Quality Development were held with national plans as the guideline. Attendees looked into the hydrogen energy policy system, industry standard, scientific and technological innovation and industrial growth.

Liu Deshun, Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Science and Technology Equipment of the National Energy Administration, said that energy is a major field closely related to national security and development. The world energy pattern is undergoing profound changes and a new round of energy revolution has begun. To promote the high-quality development of hydrogen energy, firstly, we should define the positioning of hydrogen energy in the energy system; secondly, we should have a clear understanding of the current development stage in which the hydrogen industry is located; thirdly, we should adhere to openness and innovation and actively carry out international cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy.

Shang Peng, Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Bureau of SASAC, said that hydrogen energy is an integral part of the future national new energy system, an important carrier for green low-carbon transformation, and a key development direction for strategic emerging industries and future industries. The hydrogen energy application industry chain is still in embryo. The key to its birth lies in forming the cooperation of all parties, building a close collaboration industry chain ecology, and improving the scientific and complete systematic layout and solid and efficient systematization ability.

The Meeting for Construction of Modern Industrial Chain for Hydrogen Applications & Forum on High Quality Development were hosted by Sinopec, with guidance and support from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Energy Administration, the SASACand other relevant authorities. Leaders of SPIC, CCS, Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd, and other relevant enterprises and associations attended the opening ceremony.

The high-quality development of hydrogen industry requires the deep cooperation and synergy of the whole industry chain. As a member of the hydrogen industry chain, REFIRE is obliged to bring fuel cell technology applications to new heights, work to develop hydrogen energy ecology, and promote the green and low-carbon transformation of energy and the stable and long-term growth of the industry.

Headquartered in Shanghai, REFIRE is the world’s leading deployer of commercial hydrogen fuel cell zero-emissions technologies. The company specialises in designing, testing, prototyping, application engineering and in integrated fuel cell systems for buses, trucks, specialised vehicles, power supply units, and marine applications.

As of Q1 2021, REFIRE fuel cell technologies and products are powering over 2,700 fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) in daily use in 15 cities across China, as well as various projects in five other countries. To date, combined vehicle mileage exceeds 63 million kilometres.
